Pollinator Pathway Project
September 11 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 7:30 p.m., please join us for a meeting at the Irvington Senior Center to learn about the new Pollinator Pathway Project that the Greater Irvington Land Trust and the Green Policy Task Force are launching here in Irvington.
Through this new Project, we hope to encourage local residents, landowners, students, and gardeners of all types to learn about and support pollinators – butterflies, moths, bees, and hummingbirds – and to promote the planting of native plants and reduce the use of pesticides throughout our community. Pollinators play an essential and unique role in ensuring plant and wildlife diversity, food production and the overall health of our environment. See https://www.pollinator-pathway.org/
As part of our new initiative, we plan to designate a series of “pathways” through Irvington that tie together existing open space and gardens, where we can encourage the planting of native plants to support pollinators. A key part of this Project will be to create “Living Classrooms”, which will include presentations, films and educational programs about the role of pollinators on biodiversity, food production and environmental sustainability.
We need your help – this Project will only be successful with the support and involvement of a wide range of organizations and folks within the Village.
